Welcome to my Extra Life page!

For the 13th year in a row, I have been given a mission & as always, I choose to accept it! 

This mission is to help save kids at Janeway Children's Miracle Network Hospital in St. John's, Newfoundland's only children's hospital. Janeway treats thousands of kids each year, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These kids & their families are facing all kinds of awful things. I'll be participating in this huge worldwide gaming marathon to help save kids! 

Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $100 million to help children's hospitals provide critical treatments & healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, research & charitable care. It's my sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support my efforts by donating, sharing, tweeting, coming by the stream, even if you aren't able to help financially, you can still help us get the word out! All donations will go directly to the Janeway. Your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to helping the kids! This is my 12th year accepting this mission, and each year the support from you, my friends & family, has been ABSOLUTELY mind blowing! To date we have raised, are you ready for this? We've raised an incredible $56,798.30 CAD for Janeway! We have helped save & change the lives of SO MANY kids over the last 11 years!! Now, in our 12th year, our goal, let's just have fun! I have no BIG goals for the year, just gonna set small goals and hopefully smash each one! Most of you probably know the story now as to why I do Extra Life and why it is such an important cause for me, but if you don't happen to know, here's Why I Extra Life. To start, many people have asked about my tag, NoofyNate, the quick and simple response has always been, I am a Newfoundlander and my names Nathan (Nate), people use the term goofy newfie sometimes, so I combined it and made Noofynate! However, there was a much deeper thought process put into it. NN, are the initials of someone special in my life who I never got the privilege to meet, my big sister Natasha Natalie, she would have been 3 years older than me. On July 20th 1983, my mom was in Corner Brook hospital, she was 7 months pregnant, with very high blood pressure. The doctors made the decision that she had to deliver via C-section. There she was, my parents first born, a baby girl, named Natasha Natalie Roberts. The doctors then went into a rush to save the baby and try to get my mom's blood pressure under control, they took Natasha out of the room before my mom could see her. Mother and baby weren't well, Natasha was born with pneumonia. While they worked on Natasha, my dad, and a few other family members got to see her, but mom didn't get the chance. Corner Brook hospital wasn't equipped to deal with a baby with Pneumonia, so they put out a call to St. John's, to Janeway Children's Hospital, they came as soon as they could, but they got there 20 minutes late. July 21st 1983, after 14 hours of fighting for her little life, my big sister passed away. My mom never got to see her. If she hadn't passed away, she would have been rushed to Janeway, they would have had the chance to save her little life, I would had had my big sister! That's why I accept the mission for Janeway, in hopes that the money we raise will help save someone else's big sister or brother.
