The Full Story
This is year 5 and it will be our best year yet. Year 1 = $7000. Year 2 = $18000 Year 3 = $30000 Year 4 = $33000 This year, we are eager to exceed that goal and hit $40,000! I decided to help Cook Children's Medical Center because I have a very personal connection to it. I spent a fair amount of my formative years there while my sister fought a battle with cancer that she eventually lost. The effect my sister had on my family and myself has been beyond profound and I want to honor her memory. The people who worked at Cook's were so compassionate and committed that they inspired my father to become a nurse himself. They changed many lives. Today, I work with a young man who is a patient there named Alex. He's the champion of our team. Alex's family tells me stories of how they're treated by Cook Children's Hospital that remind me of how we were treated thirty years ago. I don't know how the hospital has maintained such a positive culture, but I want to help be a part of it. ALL of the money donated here goes straight to the hospital 100% and the department at the hospital decides where best to allocate the funds. My sister, Beth, passed away on November 10th, 1988. On November 2nd, 2019, I choose to remember her joyously. I will have fun, enjoy the camaraderie of my friends, spread awareness of my values, and raise money to contribute to a cause I care about.
Teams worldwide will be participating. Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $30 million to help children's hospitals provide critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, research and charitible care. It's my sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support my efforts with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to my hospital. I've chosen to support Cook Children's Hospital in Ft Worth, Tx. The money is donated to them through the Children's Miracle Network which is a well-respected 501(c)(3) charity. Your donation is tax-deductible. https://goo.gl/iERztf
I hope you'll either donate, play, or... donate AND play!
