Extra Life 2022

Play Games. Heal Kids.

This year will mark my SIXTH year participating in Extra Life Game Day, where I play games (something I love) to help heal kids (something that's awesome). And this year... I'm doing something a little bit different...

I'm connecting my personal fitness journey to Extra Life and will donate $5 for every pound I drop over the course of 2022!

Now... why do I do this? I created a short video (for the 2020 event) to help explain:

What makes the past six years resonate the most with me, is my new-found appreciation to how resilient kids are.  Being father to Babyforce has given me a new perspective on kids health and while she has been relatively healthy, I've seen many who have not been as lucky.  In fact, 62 children have to enter a Children's Miracle Network Hospital every minute - that's just unbelievable.

This is why on November 7th, I'll be playing games throughout the day to raise funds for sick kids at BC Children's Hospital!

Here's how it works

  • Extra Life is a 24-hour fundraising and gaming marathon to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. While I won't be going 24-hours myself, I am focussing my efforts on a year-long fundraising campaign.
  • On Game Day, I will join the thousands of gamers and dedicate an entire day to play games and get donations from friends like YOU!
  • 100% of the donations go to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. TOGETHER we will make a difference for sick kids!

Your donation is tax-deductible and will make miracles happen for families who desperately need them. You can click the "Donate" button at the top of this page to make a safe and easy online donation.

Game Schedule

  • TBD

I will be taking a few short breaks throughout to get up and stretch the legs, ensure I'm staying hyrdated, and most importantly... get me all the Babyforce hugs I can get.

I Made a Donation. Do I get a Tax Receipt?

Possibly.  As donations go directly to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation, they will send a receipt early in 2022 for those of us in Canada, while an emailed receipt will be sent to those of you in the United States - so long as the donation is $20CAD or above. If your donation is smaller than that, or you reside outside of Canada and the United States, you may need to follow up with the BCCHF to determine if you're still eligible to receive one.

Will my donation be in Canadian Funds?

Possibly.  If you donate using a credit card and have a Canadian billing address, and select $CAD as your currency, then your donation will be processed in $CAD.  If you use PayPal, have an American or International billing address, or don't switch the currency from default, then your donation will be processed in $USD.

Is your fundraising goal in $cad or $usd?

The fundraising goal is in $USD!  While I am a Canadian and happen to be supporting a Canadian hospital, Extra Life defaults to $USD.  That said, if you select $CAD as your donation currency, the exchange rate will be reflected when the donation is tracked & the goal is updated.  Do not worry - the complete value of your $CAD donation will go to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation (or the value after exchange if you donate in $USD).

I can't be there - can I donate before or after?

You sure can!  This fundraiser is actually a year-long event with a big focus on Game Day.  If you can't make it on Game Day, please don't let that stop you from helping out such a great cause!

Do I get anything for donating?

Yes. Good karma!  Beyond the tax receipt issued by the BC Children's Hospital Foundation (if you qualify), you will receive my personal thanks.  And if you provide me a donation while I'm streaming, you'll not only get a fancy on-screen alert, I'll also announce it to all who are watching.  Because you'll be one of the cool kids and cool kids deserve the accolades!
