I've participated in an event held every year in November under an organization name Extra Life. Extra Life unites thousands of gamers around the world to play games in support of their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $50 million for sick and injured kids. The goal of the organization is to raise funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. As for myself the last 3 years i have participated in the event by hosting a 24 Hour Live Stream Event in my home where I play video games for 24 hours raising awareness for the organization and hoping to get people to donate to the local children's miracle network in the city I'm living in. In the last few years I have directed my donations to Boston's Children Hospital in, but this year the donations will be going towards Tucson Medical Center for Children.

The reason I've been involved in this organization so much is for one it is donations that I know get locally used, two they are going to be used for children and their families at these hospitals, and three because I am parent myself of 2 beautiful boys and I know I would want the children's hospital they go to, hopefully not any time soon, that they are equipped and well funded to take care of them. We did once have to go to Boston Children's Hospital when our oldest son was having severe stomach pains and the regular local hospital had us transfer him to there as they would have the equipment needed to see what could possibly have been wrong with him. I was thankful that we had a hospital near by that had the right equipment to make my son as comfortable as possible as well as the right equipment to diagnose him properly especially since at the time he was only 2 years old.

I've pledged to play games and raise funds for sick kids at my local children's hospital!
