On November 3rd, I'll be playing games for 24 hours to raise funds for sick kids at my local children's hospital!
Here's how it works
Extra Life is a 24-hour fundraising and gaming marathon to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
On Game Day (Nov. 3rd), I will join the thousands of gamers and dedicate an entire day to play games and get donations from friends like YOU!
100% of the donations go to my local hospital. TOGETHER we will make a difference for sick kids!
Your donation is tax-deductible and will make miracles happen for families who desperately need them. You can click the "Donate" button at the top of this page to make a safe and easy online donation.
I'm supporting the Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Seven years ago, my son, Joshua, was taken to this hospital. He had not been feeling well and was sent home from daycare on February 21, 2011 with a fever. My wife took him to the doctor who said he had a virus and gave us the normal instructions (keep him hydrated, let him rest, etc). That afternoon, Joshua went down for his nap and never woke up. My wife found him not breathing, called 911, and administered CPR. The ambulance took him to our local hospital, who then referred him to Penn State Children's Hospital.
Joshua spent 7 days under the care of the NICU staff, remaining in a coma the entire time. On February 28, 2011, the doctors administered a brain function test. Joshua did not react to any of the stimuli and failed the doll eye test. He was diagnosed as brain dead due to the unknown amount of time without oxygen, and we were forced to remove life support. An autopsy showed the original infection was the H1N1 flu.
Even though our outcome was negative, we want to help the Penn State Children's Hospital. Joshua's outcome was decided before he arrived, but plenty of children are able to be saved by these doctors. In addition, the hospital has play areas for the children and visiting families, which these donations can help maintain and upgrade. This hospital is the top children's hospital in Central PA, and they deserve all of the support that we can give them.
Thank you for reading this and, if you go on to donate, for your donation. A few dollars from many people adds up to a lot of dollars to help the children.
