This year I am playing to raise money for the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This wonderful hospital serves all of the Atlantic provinces, focusing on maternity and children's care. Speaking as a parent of three small children, the amount of security I feel knowing that this world-class facility is just down the road if we need it is hard to put into words.
I'm playing on behalf of my brother, Brad, who would have turned 37 this year. We lost him to leukemia in 1983, when he was just three years old. Over 30 years later, I see my parents and how they react to the simple mention of his name, and realize that losing a child is something people just never really get over. I want to do what I can to make sure as few people as possible ever have to feel that pain, and making sure the IWK has the funding it needs to operate to its fullest potential is one of the best possible ways to reduce the risk.
My children were all born in the Grace Maternity side of the IWK. With our first, both my wife and daughter were in danger due to complications during delivery. With our son, the amazing staff literally saved his life when he stopped breathing soon after birth. In the subsequent years, all three of our kids have visited the hospital for various maladies (thankfully nothing serious). I can't think of a place more worthy of our support.
On November 4, 2017, I'll be participating in this huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers of all kinds from video games to board games and tabletop RPG's! I'll be streaming the marathon here, so please come watch! It's my sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support my efforts with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to my hospital.
Your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids.
I need your help to reach my goal For The Kids. Please make a safe, easy donation online today. Click the "Support This Participant" button on this page to get started. Thank you so much for supporting my efforts!
Game Day 2017
This year is the 30th anniversary of the PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16! So on November 4th and 5th I'll be playing TG-16 games for two 12-hour stints over the weekend.
As usual, you can help decide what I play! If you donate $40 or more between October 4 and November 3, go ahead and choose which TG-16 game you'd like to see played, and which hour you'd like to see it played in! Just put your request in the body of the donation!
