On November 6th, we'll be playing games for 24 hours to raise funds for sick kids at our local children's hospital!
Here's how it works
Extra Life is a 24-hour fundraising and gaming marathon to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
On Game Day (Nov. 6th), we will join thousands of gamers and dedicate an entire day to play games and get donations from friends like YOU!
100% of the donations go to our local hospital. TOGETHER we will make a difference for sick kids!
Your donation is tax-deductible and will make miracles happen for families who desperately need them. You can click the "Donate" button at the top of this page to make a safe and easy online donation.
We are Rebecca & Greg - avid gamers who met at a game table (see our game-themed wedding here) and play all variety of games, whether tabletop games, video games, interactive fiction, puzzles, etc.
We run a local gaming group, RNG Gaming, that gets together a couple times a month to play board games from our game library and RPGs (though this year we've been playing online since April). The two of us also play a lot of two-player games, including various campaigns (such as Folklore: The Affliction, 7th Continent, TIME Stories, Charterstone, Sword & Sorcery, and Stuffed Fables) and escape game series (such as Exit: The Game and Unlock!)
Rebecca is a Children's Librarian at a public library in the suburbs of Chicago. Her goal is to create educational gaming programs at libraries, which she has already started doing at the library where she works.
Her website, To Play Is Human, houses her writing on games and gaming culture. She has an interview series titled “DIY Crafty Gamers” which features gamers and the projects they make for their games.
Rebecca co-hosted Playability, an interview-based podcast at the crossroads of gameplay and accessibility. The show's goal is to get the gaming community talking and thinking more about accessibility in games via discussions with designers/artists/developers about how they’ve addressed accessibility in past or current games. Discussions about accessibility include physical, visual, cognitive, emotional, and social (inclusivity, etc.) accessibility. Episodes run 15-20 minutes — something people can listen to during a commute, a lunch break, a walk, etc. Full transcripts are posted with each episode.
We have FIVE of the most adorable cats in the world and they own us completely: Franklin, Charlotte, Aurora, Nox, and Bacchus. Yes, Bacchus, the youngest, has his own Instagram account so you can follow his shenanigans here.
