Apóyame!

Well hello there

Every year I sit down to write this, I struggle to find the right words. I will start with a simple Happy Birthday. Today you would have been 36. I often wonder if you’d still play video games. I try to imagine the long lines that we’d wait in together for the newest console or latest game. And the hours of late night gaming that would follow. I remember the silly games we used to play like Acrophobia and You Don’t Know Jack with our even sillier online persona of BusDriver. I still try to string tricks together in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, but I know that I’ll never reach a score as high as you did. I never would have imagined the impact that playing games with you would eventually have on my life and the lives of others.

Today marks the beginning of my 7th year of participating in Extra Life. I’m pledging to play games for 24-hours to raise money for The Children’s Hospital at Providence. Every year, The Children's Hospital at Providence treats thousands of children, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few. I'm on a mission to help these kids and I need your help.

Pediatric illness is something that my family is all too familiar with. The Children's Hospital and Children's Miracle Network helped us when we needed it the most. In memory of my brother-in-law, Evan Casey. I'm participating in a huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers of all kinds. From video games to board games to tabletop RPG's, we are playing together to heal kids!

It is my sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support my efforts with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to The Children’s Hospital at Providence to help the kids and families that we call neighbors, co-workers, and family. Your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids.

Evan Casey. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for being my brother. Thank you for playing games. It was a privilege to know you in life and it is a honor to play in your memory for Extra Life.
