Dear Friends and Family,
I'm on a mission to save kids and I need your help. My local Children's Miracle Network Hospital treats thousands of children each year, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few.
I'll be participating in this huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers of all kinds from video games to board games and tabletop RPG's! Since 2010, Extra Life has raised more than $14 million to help children's hospitals provide critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, research and charitible care. It's my sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support my efforts with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to my hospital.
I have heard a lot of great stories about how and why people have become involved with Extra Life and Children's Miracle Network. Being involved with Extra Life has been changed my life in many ways. The thing that initially got me involved is that Extra Life is about everyone doing what they can do to improve the world. You don't have to be a super hero, a surgeon, a fire fighter to save a life. Everyone has what it takes. Extra Life makes this clear.
Since then, Extra Life has grown in my life to be so much more than that. Why do I do Extra Life? Becoming a father has shown me how blessed I am to have a healthy and happy little girl. However, there are many parents out there going through very tough life and death situations, and I can't come close to imagining how difficult that is. If I can help them in some way, I will.
I do it for my friend, Jason Salotti who shared my love for this cause, and who died in a car accident a few months after the first Extra Life event we were involved with in 2012. Jason was as energetic and passionate about this cause as I am, and immediately after the event was planning for the next. If I can share his love and generosity with these kids, I will.
I recently was privledged to take a tour of the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital, and learned so much of how Children's Miracle Network saves lives and helps kids and family members who are fighting for their lives. The moment that nearly made me cry was seeing the operating room waiting room. I don't think it would have meant much to me if I wasn't a father, but the picture of someone's parents waiting patiently as their child is in surgery, waiting and praying that everything is going alright, hoping they get the chance to hug their child again. If I can help those parents in some way, I will.
But I can't do it alone. I need your help. These parents and children need your help. And we can all be super heros. We can all save lives. We all have the power to make this world a better place for these kids.
