The Extra Life gaming marathon coming up on Nov. 7 is a 24-hour gaming marathon to benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. People around the world commit to play games for 24 hours straight to raise funds for children in need. Each participant selects a hospital to play for, and that hospital receives 100% of the donations.
You all always go way beyond my expectations! I set my goal at $500 the first year, and you gave $718! Then I set my goal at $1,000 last year, and you gave $1,240!
So this year, I'm setting my goal for $1,300. I realize this is probably impossible, but that's okay. I'm hopeful that we can make that number, but any little bit helps. Definitely don't feel obligated to give or anything like that. I appreciate everyone here, and I love making gifs just for the fun of it. You don't owe me anything. In fact, I owe all of you for even taking the time to look at my gifs and write comments. You all make me happy.
Every dollar you donate goes directly to the hospital I'm playing for. And since I recently moved to Nashville, this year I'm playing for Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt! They do amazing work. And as a nonprofit hospital, they depend on our generosity to help every child in need of treatment.
So, anyway, a little about me, since I realize hiding behind an anonymous username can be a bit strange. :) My real name is Jason. I'm 33 (ugh), and I have an amazing wife and four beautiful children.
I can't imagine what I would do if any of them ever came down with a serious or terminal illness. My wife and I have gone through two miscarriages. As difficult as those two losses were to walk through, they're nothing compared to fighting alongside your child through cancer or anything like that. No child deserves to be sick, but the fact is that . . . it happens. It's horrible, absolutely horrible what these children have to fight through.
But we can help. Your money can be used to research new cures, help pay a hospital bill for a family in need of assistance, buy a toy or a vacation for a sick child . . . the list goes on. Your gift of any amount could help save a child's life. Will you consider what you can give?
Thanks for reading, everyone! I can't wait to see what team reddit can pull off this year! And as always, I very much appreciate all of you. If there's absolutely anything I can do for you, please send me a message on here or reddit.
